 Day 1: Identify, Read, Show them by counting objects

Activity 1: Identify the numbers on the number chart and read the numbers individually.

(i) 7 (ii) 16 (iii) 10 (iv) 9

Activity 2: Identify each number on the number chart and show them by counting objects:

(1) 6 (2) 12 (3) 17 (4) 20 (5) 9

Activity 3: Show the objects, count aloud together and display the matching number card and make each students identify the number on the number chart.

Ex: (i) Show 5 stones → “five” → show number card 5 - Identify 5 on the number chart.

(ii) Show 9 loose sticks to the students, ask them to count and say the total as “Nine”, then show the number card 9 - Identify 9 on the number chart.

Teaching Zero:

Show a twig with few leaves and remove them one by one. When no leaves remain, ask students what is left. Guide them to say “Nothing”. Then explain that “Nothing means Zero” and show the number card 0 - Identify 0 on the number chart.

Number Jumping Game:

Place number cards from 0–20 on the floor. The teacher says a number aloud and students jump to the correct number. The student then reads the number aloud.

1. Objects [stones, sticks, beads, leaves, tamarind seeds, counters, etc.], 

2. Number cards, and 

3. Number charts.
